Race Format The
events will be cross-country orienteering events: Each competitor
will be allocated an individual start time and compete individually.
On the start line you will be given a specially produced
mountain bike orienteering map with a pre marked course.
On the map all paths and tracks are represented by their
ride-ability. The course is a set of orienteering control
points, which must be visited in the order shown on the
map. You must chose the best route between the controls
and navigate accordingly. At each control you register that
you have been there with the EMIT timer which you will be
given. This records your race time and the time taken between
each control. You can then compare you race time and individual
control times with all the other competitors. The winners
will be the competitors to have completed the course in
the fasted time.

Course Lengths
At each event the course lengths
and thus the winning time will differ due to the nature
and extent of the terrain. The men’s open class will have
a winning time in the range 90 - 120 mins. All the other
categories will have different and slightly shorter courses.
So unlike a score event everybody rides for a different
amount of time, but over the same course.
